Literacy Services:
Detroit HOPE Center, Inc. provides both English as a second language (ESL) and Bangla as a second language (BSL) to community residents to ensure that communication skills are sufficient for both employment and community settings. The Center has partnered with ProLiteracy-Detroit to assist community residents with literacy skills for life and vocation. 
Computer Services:

Basic and advanced computer services are provided weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays.  Courses include resume and cover letter writing, introduction to the Internet, and the entire Microsoft Office suite.  Instructors are volunteers from various industries, including the Big Three and area businesses.   

Employment Services:
Self-serve and facilitated job search services are provided daily to interested job seekers.  The Center promotes the Michigan Talent Bank as the premier electronic job search database where applicants can search by job title, location, or key word.

Community Services:
Detroit HOPE Center, Inc. provides food assistance for its seniors and homeless populations.  In addition, it makes direct referrals to Michigan Works! Service Centers, the Detroit Department of Health and Wellness Promotion, the Department of Human Services, and licensed vocational training providers, among others.  

Center management regularly participates in citywide clean-up activities such as the annual Mayor’s Makeover and Habitat for Humanities.  Detroit Hope Center, Inc. has a corps of committed volunteers who regularly contribute their time and resources for the revitalization of the community.    

Area Snapshot:

Detroit HOPE Center, Inc. is situated on the near east side of Detroit on the border with Hamtramck and Highland Park.  Established in 2004 by a group of community activists, it is located on the corner of Carpenter and Joseph Campau on the former site of Krajenke Buick.  Its mission includes ensuring that every jobseeker has access to the latest technology to conduct a 21st century job search.     
 
Local Partnerships: 

Local partners include ProLiteracy-Detroit, Peoples Community Services, ACCESS, the Detroit Michigan Work! Agency, and the Bangladeshi American Community Services, among others. As Detroit’s first Access Point, Center officials expect to expand its scope of services to the local community, including 25,000 Bangladeshis.
